the team

Years of experience equals fun trips that are well-thought-out, safe and a great learning - and life - experience

Duncan and Laurie have between them years of experience in planning and carrying out educational trips for teens in Europe. They met each other while working for a language training company where Laurie spent years planning summer trips and Duncan was an enthusiastic camp counsellor.

Who we are

Old hands

We run immersive sailing trips aboard traditional tall ships, led by a professional captain and crew. Since 2018, our team has worked together guiding teenagers in small, supportive groups of 15–30. Every trip is carefully run, with a strong focus on safety, inclusion, and helping each guest feel confident on board.

What we believe

Real growth

We believe the best learning happens through experience. On the Wadden and Baltic seas, teens step beyond their comfort zones, build friendships, and take on real responsibility at sea. Along the way, they naturally develop confidence, life skills, and their English—without it ever feeling like a classroom.

What do we do?

Our sailing trips offer the opportunity to live in an English speaking environment for a week on a gorgeous traditional tall ship.

We have small groups of 15 to 30 people, including our team and the crew, which encourages team building and the inclusion of everyone.

All ships are manned by a professional captain and crew, who guide and instruct our guests in the art of sailing.

Our team has been working together since 2018 and has many years of experience working with kids and teenagers.

We offer class and combined trips on the Wadden and Baltic seas.

Our trips are about improving competency and comfort in speaking English, fostering cooperation and finding adventure.

Our guests can expect to step out of a comfort zone, try new things, meet new people and see a beautiful little corner of the world.

They’ll leave having gotten to know some wonderful new friends, spoken more English than they probably ever have in their lives and learnt some valuable life skills.

Why does it work?

It is truly a special and unique experience living on a ship as a group for a whole week and the wonderful friendships we’ve seen blossom are certainly testament to that fact.

Part of that special experience comes from being on a boat.

Everything about living on a boat is different which means nothing feels everyday. Even just lying on deck and watching the waves roll by feels like an adventure.

The other unique element of the experience comes from living with a group. We have to work as a team from the moment we wake up. When we’re getting breakfast ready, hoisting heavy sails, casting off, cooking dinner and exploring a new island; we’re doing it together.

It’s in this engaging environment that makes these trips such effective learning events.

Our week is structured in English, all activities, games, instruction* and meal preparation are in English.

As the week progresses the teenagers find themselves feeling more and more confident in the language and the production of language becomes more and more second nature.

*the captain and crew are Dutch and German, as such their level of English can vary. In our experience it is common to be able to structure all sailing in English which we do kindly ask for but it can be that sailing instructions are given in German for expedience, safety and ability considerations.
